The Los Angeles Abrasion Testing Machine (LA Abrasion Machine) is used for determining the hardness, toughness, and abrasion resistance of aggregates as per IS 2386 (Part 4) and ASTM C131/C535 standards. It is widely used in road construction, highway engineering, and aggregate quality control testing by government agencies, testing laboratories, and construction engineers.
The machine consists of a hollow steel cylinder mounted horizontally on a sturdy frame with ball bearings. A dust-tight cover facilitates easy charging and discharging of the test aggregate and steel abrasive charges. The cylinder rotates at a controlled speed, subjecting the aggregate to impact and abrasion to determine the Los Angeles Abrasion Value. Available in Semi-Automatic and Digital models for flexible operation in field and laboratory conditions.
